Thousands are expected to line the route for Queen Elizabeth’s final journey from Westminster Abbey to her last resting place in the Royal Chapel at Windsor Castle
Starting at 1 o’clock, the journey will take her through Hammersmith and Hounslow on the Great West Road, and past Staines on the A 30. It’s the last chance to pay tribute to Her Majesty and Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham Councils are hoping a plea to travel on foot or use public Transport will help avoid traffic chaos. From the Wellington Arch at 1pm the Royal Cortege will make its way west more than ten miles to Hounslow along the A4,before meeting the A30 at Henley’s Roundabout as the journey continues past Staines to Windsor Castle. Roads in the area will be closed for much of the day and parking very limited. Meanwhile Heathrow Airport is suspending scores of flights during the Royal funeral to allow for quiet contemplation along the route.
