Merton and Wandsworth Council leaders say they are pleased drivers of the most polluting vehicles will get help scrapping them
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced on Friday that the ULEZ will expand next August to cover the whole of greater London. This means drivers of cars considered to be the most polluting will have to pay £12.50 per day to drive in the zone. Both Merton and Wandsworth council leaders say they are pleased their calls for a scrappage scheme appear to have been met. There will be a fund of £110million and the drivers who scrap more polluting cars will also be offered travelcards. Under the plans, disabled drivers will be entitled to a grace period until 2027.
