People fleeing North Korea are being helped to acclimatise to life in the UK thanks to a charity in New Malden
It is currently illegal to leave the country without permission. Connect: North Korea offers advice and support on issues such as accessing healthcare, utilities and housing. The charity has been handed a £50,000 grant from the City Bridge Trust which is the City of London Corporation’s charity funder. Connect: North Korea will use the money to continue its work which also includes mental health support. The charity says many are affected by the trauma of leaving their homes and starting life in a new country very different to their own.
