Runnymede councillors have voted to take responsibility for cladding on the Addlestone One development.
The authority will replace cladding and cover the cost for individual homeowners living in the development. Addlestone One, which is made up of six low rise blocks, was built by the council in 2017. All of the cladding was deemed safe when the site was originally constructed. But external fire safety consultants conducted a survey of the residential blocks last year. They found that the cladding materials had an impact on the overall fire safety of the blocks and that it should be replaced. The costs will be met by Runnymede but will not be paid for through any increase to the council tax.
