Rules around how much liquid we can take on planes is changing, in what will be the biggest relaxation of aviation security regulations in decades
It follows a successful pilot scheme at Heathrow. Since a terrorist threat in 2006, we've only been allowed to have containers holding up to 100 millilitres on flights, to stop liquid explosives being carried on to planes. But from June 2024, most major UK airports will allow items with up to 2 litres - 20 times more than currently allowed. Travellers also won't have to take laptops or tablets out of hand luggage. Airports must install new technology first though, which gives more detailed images of what's in our bags.
