Historic Painshill Park in Cobham is to be part of a ground-breaking satellite wildlife project
The 18th Century landscape garden will trial a Space4Nature satellite mapping project. The land boasts a lake, woodland, and grassland which is said to be perfect for testing and refining satellite imagery and artificial intelligence. The project has been made possible by £1.2 million worth of funding raised by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. The Space4Nature team will use very high-resolution satellite imagery of the site to analyse its flora and fauna. AI software will then be used by volunteers and conservationists to study specific areas of interest. The information gathered will help form future projects to protect open spaces and wildlife.
