A mother from Ukraine who was given refuge in Kingston says she’s found a true sanctuary here

370 people have been taken in by the borough’s residents since the start of the war with Russia one year ago today.

Alina Ledenova moved with her son, but her husband remains in Ukraine where he is part of the military. 

Meanwhile, the United Nations General Assembly has backed a resolution calling for Russia to end its conflict in Ukraine and demanding the withdrawal of its forces.

It passed by 141 votes to 7, with 32 abstentions - including China.

The vote isn’t legally binding so Moscow's likely to just ignore it.
