A protest is being planned against Epsom and Ewell Borough Council’s proposal to build on the greenbelt

Five greenbelt sites have been put forward for housing developments.

The proposal is to build 2,175 houses which is over 41% of the total of 5,400 proposed up to 2040. 

5,000 people have so far signed a petition against the plans laid out in the Draft Local Plan. 

The Council has already said it is extending the deadline of the public consultation on the plan until the 19th of March. 

The authority says the decision was made after a small number of inconsistencies were discovered between two versions of it. 

The protest is being planned for Saturday the 25th at 11am outside Metrobank in Epsom High Street.
