A pilot scheme which allows people to be discharged from hospital more quickly is being trialled across Merton.

The council is offering patients a free Mascot Telecare package for up to four weeks after they return home. 

The system helps keep people safe and independent in their own homes.  

The Telecare device can be worn around the neck or wrist and includes a push button.

If someone needs assistance, they can push it, and a signal is relayed to a control room based at Merton Civic Centre. 

There is also a range of other equipment including home sensors which can detect and report if someone has a fall.
