Battersea Dogs and Cats home is reminding pet owners about the importance of spaying
It’s after a nine-month old kitten gave birth to three kittens and all four animals ended up at the rescue centre. The cat’s previous owner was unable to afford the cost of caring for the additional pets and all four were eventually rehomed. Spaying involves removing the uterus and ovaries of a female animal. Battersea says it has already taken in 46 kittens so far this year. 21% of animals brought in in January came from owners who told them they could no longer afford to keep them. Battersea puts the average yearly cost of owning a cat at £1,500.
