Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has apologised for the removal of a piece of art created by children in 2012
The artwork in question was removed after a letter was received by the hospital trust from the group UK Lawyers for Israel. The document stated that some Jewish patients had complained that some elements of the display made them feel “victimised”. The display featured decorative plates, designed by children at two United Nations schools in Gaza. Hospital bosses say they “reviewed their duties under the Equality Act 2010” and took the decision to remove the display. But they say they’re sorry the removal of the artwork has offended some communities and that its contents offended other communities.
