Labour's promising to reverse Jeremy Hunt's planned pensions tax break for the wealthy
The chancellor's budget yesterday included the scrapping of the lifetime pensions allowance - saying the move would encourage high earners like NHS consultants not to retire early. A freeze in fuel duty and more free childcare in England were also among measures announced. The government is providing just under £300m in “start-up” funding for the next three years to allow schools to offer 8am-6pm childcare. However, Twickenham Lib Dem MP Munira Wilson is saying “what planet is the chancellor on?” to the lack of promised funding after the pilot. Some reports say the treasury expects parents to be charged.
