Leaked WhatsApp messages reveal more damaging revelations about the government's handling of the Covid pandemic

The texts - published in the Daily Telegraph - suggest the then-education secretary Gavin Williamson accused teachers of looking for an "excuse" not to work as he tried to re-open England's schools.

He also wrote that teaching unions "really really do just hate work."

Yesterday, details came out about a lack of testing in care homes.

Tooting Labour MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan says the leaks are “alarming, but sadly, not surprising”, and that “Government decisions at the start of the pandemic were made based on political risk, not on public health grounds.”
