Junior doctors in England have begun a four-day walk-out in what's been described as potentially the most disruptive strike in the history of the NHS
Members of the British Medical Association want a pay rise of 35-percent, which the government says is "unreasonable". Thousands of appointments and operations are being cancelled, with emergency and urgent care prioritised. Dr Richard Jennings from St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals says last month’s strikes had a “significant impact”. He adds that they “expect it to be as challenging – if not more so – this time round, following the Easter weekend”. During the last junior doctors strikes, 3,000 inpatient and outpatient appointments at the three hospitals were rescheduled.
