A nest, believed to be belonging to the Oak Processionary Moth, has been discovered in New Malden

Walkers in Beverly Park spotted the dog height nest near the tennis courts earlier this week and called Kingston Council.

The caterpillars of oak processionary moths are pests that feed on oak trees and are a hazard to human and animal health.

The insect was accidentally introduced to England in 2005, and is subject to a government-led programme of control.
