Cllr Ian Harvey has announced his resignation today as Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council.
However, he will remain a Ward Councillor for his home Ward, Sunbury East.
Cllr Harvey became Leader of Spelthorne Borough Council in February 2016.
He is the fourth longest serving Leader in Spelthorne’s 46 year history.
Cllr Harvey said, “I have strived to make Spelthorne a great place to live, work and play. More recently, the financial footing that Spelthorne is now on because of our commercial investment strategy has enabled Spelthorne to respond very proactively and promptly to the ongoing COVID19 crisis. I will look back at my time as Leader with pride knowing that I have made a difference for Spelthorne and I very much look forward to being able to devote more time to my family and friends and enjoying the Borough which I serve. Finally, I would like to thank staff and Councillors who have worked with me as a team to achieve what we have delivered across Spelthorne”
