For the first time, more people on low incomes voted for the Conservative Party than Labour in the general election.


That’s according to analysis by academics at Royal Holloway and Kent Universities.

It says that areas most in need of economic help are going to suffer the most from the financial fallout of the pandemic.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation says the government needs to deliver on its “levelling up” agenda to help poorer communities.
