Air pollution monitors have recorded a 40% improvement around the airport in the three months to the end of May.
“Stop Heathrow” campaigners are now pushing for the government to introduce legislation to make the decrease permanent.
Heathrow says the drop is down to non-airport related traffic and operations and not just the 97% reduction in passenger numbers.
