More than 300 cases of animals affected by litter in Surrey have been reported to the RSPCA over the last 5 years

The charity is urging people to make sure they dispose of their rubbish responsibly when out and about across the county.

Elastic bands, tin cans, plastic bottles, angling litter and garden netting have all been implicated in reported cases.

Animals and birds can get their heads and necks stuck causing strangulation and other severe injuries as they struggle to break free.
