The application for a 10 storey building on Francis Grove was approved by Merton councillors last week by a single vote after one member appeared to abstain before voting in favour.
A second vote was called at the end of the video conference, where the plans were then approved.
Lib Dem parliamentary spokesperson for Wimbledon, Paul Kohler, is now calling for the planning application to be withdrawn.
