There are calls for more police on the streets in Richmond
Sarah Olney, Lib Dem Richmond Park MP, has written to the Mayor of London saying a “more visible police presence” is needed.
She says that she appreciates “resources are finite”, but it would “go a long way to keep crime and antisocial behaviour at bay”.
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “The Mayor is committed to reducing violence and all forms of crime in London and that’s why he has invested record amounts in the Met Police and in prevention to tackle the complex causes of crime.
“Sadiq increased the number of dedicated ward officers right across the capital as part of his dedicated approach to local, community policing and he continues to put pressure on Government on behalf of all Londoners to deliver the additional 6,000 police officers we need to drive down crime and anti-social behaviour.”
