Sir Ed Davey risked his life to save a woman on train tracks at Clapham Junction

Speaking to the Mirror, he revealed that he won a bravery award from the National Humane Society for the act in 1994.

She fell onto the tracks after an altercation with her partner, and Sir Ed ran across the electrified rails to save her.

A train stopped just two metres from them.

The revelation comes ahead of his leadership bid for the Liberal Democrats later this year.
