Nearly 500 coronavirus fines were handed out in Surrey between March and May


The county represents less than 3% of the national total, which is over 17,000.

84% of the fines went to men under the age of 45.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Alison Barlow says they wanted to use enforcement as a last result, preferring to “engage, explain and encourage”.
