The RSPCA is bracing itself for an abundance of abandoned animals post lockdown as owners struggle to keep their pets.
Over 3,000 reports have been received since lockdown amounting to about 40 calls a day.
A heavily pregnant Jack Russell was found abandoned in a box and was rushed to the Millbrook Animal Centre in Woking.
RSPCA rescue teams are working round the clock to care for a multitude of dogs and cats, small furries and exotic species.
Head of the RSPCA animal rescue teams Dermot Murphy said “I’d urge anyone struggling with their pet to ask for help. Animals have been there to help us through the crisis, please don’t abandon them now”
