Epsom and Ewell council is asking the government to consider setting a lower house building target for the borough

Bosses want it cut from 579 to 215 a year.

If Government changes to planning laws announced last week go ahead, the target could increase further to 604 homes per year.

Epsom and Ewell says its own predictions are based on the latest Office for National Statistics figures.
