The Coastguard had its busiest day for more than four years yesterday, as the UK recorded its third hottest day ever.

Temperatures reached 37-point-8 degrees Celsius at London's Heathrow Airport.

Many of the calls made were about people being cut off by the tide, missing children and swimmers getting into difficulty.
