The old Tudor Williams site in New Malden has been sold to a housing developer

The family run independent department store in the high street shut its doors last year after 106 years.

Residents had hoped the space would be reserved for retail, but it’s been confirmed it has been purchased by Rocco Homes.

The Cobham based company has told us;

We have not started the design process and no proposals have been drawn to date.

However, considering the importance of the high street in the local area, we are very conscious that retaining a retail use relevant to the local community will be key to making this new development an active part of New Malden High Street.

We look forward to presenting and discussing the emerging proposals with the local community in due course.
