A former senior Transport for London guru has been called in to fast track efforts to reopen Hammersmith Bridge.

Dana Skelley, has been appointed by the Transport Secretary to spearhead repairs to the Victorian crossing according to the Evening Standard.

She previously prepared the road networks for the 2012 Olympics.

She will lead engineering teams looking at how to repair the Grade II listed bridge.

The route was completely closed to all travel last month.
