A popular Jamaican seafood café is to remain on Tooting market after a threat of eviction was lifted this weekend.

Owners of the market had told the proprietor and chef Christopher Smith to move out after his premises at The Lone Fisherman were raided by police on September 5th under the misuse of drugs act.

Nothing was found and there’s no evidence to suggest that Mr Smith was involved in any way in the drugs trade.

On his Instagram feed Mr Smith says the eviction notice has now been rescinded following dialogue with the market authorities, and the help of the local MP, Rosena Allin-Khan.
