Suicide rates in Richmond have risen nearly 100% over the last two years

Suicide rates in Richmond have risen nearly 100% over the last two years.

The figures have been released by the council following last week’s annual World Suicide Prevention Day.

Rates in the borough stand at 9.2 deaths per 100,000 people, up from 5.5 per 100,000.

A suicide and self-harm prevention strategy was put in place last October to address mental health related morbidity.
