It’s believed gold thefts in Surrey may be connected to organised crime groups across the UK

 


A major hotspot stretches from Sunbury, diagonally through Ashford to Heathrow.

No other hotspot is as big in the county, but Weybridge, Oxshott and Chertsey are also being targeted.

In teams of three or four, the burglars are sacking homes looking for high value gold, such as wedding jewellery and heirlooms.

People are being told to keep valuables in a secure box, and when wearing it, keep it hidden until you’re indoors around trustworthy people.
