Brentford based GlaxoSmithKline and Vir Biotechnology said their trial programme is also to be expanded across new sites.
These are in North America, South America and Europe.
The pair have been working on an antibody-based treatment since April.
GSK also has a separate vaccine partnership with Sanofi that entered clinical trials last month.
