It’s emerged Staines Custody Centre had to close for 12 days last month because of Coronavirus.

The move meant only two out of three custody suites in Surrey were open.

This resulted in staff having to travel further for work and to transport prisoners.

Surrey says the new strain of coronavirus has resulted in more of the forces' employees currently off sick.
