Richmond Council is urging the Government to maintain the Universal Credit uplift that was introduced last March.

Councillors say it’s needed to help nearly 11,000 residents pay for everyday essentials such as food and utilities. 

Robin Brown, Finance and Resources Lead Member for Richmond Council, has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak.

He’s asking for the £20 per week increase to the Universal Credit basic rate to become permanent.
