The MP for Putney says she’s been “inundated” with emails worried about the impending cut to universal credit.

It was raised by £20 per week during the pandemic, and is due to end at the end of October.

The Department for Work and Pensions says it was always designed to be temporary, and only to help with the toughest stages of the pandemic.

Labour’s Fleur Anderson has written to the Chancellor, saying more benefits need to be raised, to make it more “fair and poverty-cutting”.
