It’s thought to be the preferred option of the committee on Epsom and Ewell Council which is charged with looking after the Downs.
Full planning permission would be needed for a permanent
installation.
A beacon ceremony on Epsom Downs has already been pencilled
in for June 2nd, the date on which the Coronation was held in 1953.
