The Queen’s Green Canopy scheme has secured 1,340 new trees from the Forestry Commission Urban Tree Challenge Fund.
One tree will also be planted for every child born in the borough this year; a figure expected to be in excess of 3,000.
The first round of planting will take place in Morden Park next week where 400 whips will be planted over two days.
