A number of parents say plans to expand Burlington Junior School in New Malden should be halted

Kingston Council last week approved a proposal to increase capacity at the school to accommodate 600 pupils and 55 staff.

But some parents have told us that they are worried children currently at the site will be without a playground while the works are underway.

They also say that the expansion won’t alleviate the school places crisis in Kingston.

They’ve told us that’s because a large number of the children come to Burlington from neighbouring Merton.

The council says “the plans will provide new facilities which will be of lasting benefit for many generations of children to come.”
