Officers were called to Hardwick Lane in Lyne following reports of a serious collision between a grey Kia and a red Mini Cooper.
One driver taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.
However, another driver in her 70s, has now passed away.
Officers are appealing for dashcam footage of the accident on January the 17th.
