Kingston council has welcomed the first Afghan family under the new Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy in the borough

Families assisted through the scheme were locally employed staff who supported the British government during its involvement in Afghanistan.

The first family was relocated to Kingston earlier this month

The council has committed to settling 32 individuals under the ARAP Scheme.
