People in Hounslow are being advised against buying fashionable wood-fired stoves and burners.

The council is reminding residents with them that using the wrong kind of fuel on the burners will add to air pollution.

Figures from the Greater London Authority show they are responsible for 17% of all the fine particle pollution across London.

There are new restrictions on the sale of bagged coal and wet wood, and the rules also state solid fuel must have a low sulphur content.

Manufacturers must also certify and label these products to meet the required standards.
