Council engineers have developed an alternative £8.9 million stabilisation programme for the Grade II listed structure.
The authority has approved the plan and is not waiting for
funding to come through from the Department for Transport and TfL.
It is anticipated they will subsequently reimburse the
council with their one-third shares as announced by the Government last year.
