A toll is likely to be introduced on Hammersmith Bridge when it reopens, to cover the cost of repairs.

The council has previously stated that residents of Hammersmith and Fulham won’t have to pay, and have discussed a charge of £3.

Leader Stephen Cowan says a toll would be the only way the borough isn’t “shackled” with the cost for decades to come.

The bill for repair currently stands at around £161m.
