A student from Kingston University has won an award for research that could address the global shortages of organs.

Sadaf Akbari investigated how smart materials might replace damaged bones and organs in the human body.

Smart materials are produced when pressure is applied to bones and proteins in the body to make electrical charges.

Sadaf won the Three Minute Thesis competition with a 180 second presentation highlighting the potential uses of her work.
