Merton, Sutton, Croydon and Kingston are looking to change the company that collects their bins and cleans their streets.

Veolia has had the contract since 2017, but now say that looking into a different provider “would be in the borough’s best interests”.

Merton has confirmed that it intends to exit the contract when it ends in 2025, following concerns about the quality of street cleaning.

A spokesperson for Veolia says they “look forward” to new contract terms and will respond in the bidding process.
