There is currently just one public charger per 9,000 residents in the county.
Surrey County Council is partnering with Connect Kerb to supply EV chargers to over 1,500 locations.
The authority says this will represent the biggest uplift by a council to the UK’s existing number of nearly 39,000 charge points.
