The previous administration at Croydon Council is facing legal action for its “part in Croydon’s downfall”.

The authority is referring a series of reports on the administration’s failures to the police and professional institutions.

Taxes are being increased by 15% in an attempt to tackle £1.6bn of debt. 

Executive Mayor Jason Perry is writing to the government to ask for a review into how councils can hold people to account.
