Sadiq Khan wrote a personal letter of congratulations to a team of Wandsworth Council highways engineers for their concerted efforts.
The prize is designed to encourage town halls to better co-ordinate roadworks to minimise disruption to the travelling public.
They were handed the Infrastructure Coordination Service’s Collaboration Award in the Highway Authority category.
