People are being encouraged to get tested for hepatitis C, as around half of people with it in South-West London are unaware they have the virus.

St George’s Hospital in Tooting is encouraging people to contact them and set up testing or educational events in the community.

Around 6,000 people have the virus in South-West London, but treatment can take as little as eight weeks.

England is aiming to eliminate hepatitis C by 2025.
