Two dogs have needed medical treatment, after being locked in a hot van in Surbiton.

When police arrived, the temperature was 25 degrees, and the dogs were showing signs of heatstroke and were both sick.

Police stayed with the van for nearly an hour and the owner didn’t arrive, and the force says if they weren’t called the dogs would have died.

The incident is under investigation, and if you see an animal struggling in a hot vehicle, you can report it to 999.
